In addition, we process personal data that you provide through A City Made By People Sites, for example, when you enter personal information (e.g. name, gender, address, email address, phone/fax number) on a registration page or if you sign up for an email newsletter.
A City Made By People may use the personal data that you provide to us with your consent for a specified purpose or when you interact with A City Made By People Sites or we process your data if we have legal basis, namely, with regards to your registration to A City Made By People events/Made By People Lab or your request of A City Made By People/Made By People Lab services.
Furthermore, we operate (I) custom platforms, which are fully built and maintained by A City Made By People (“Custom Platforms”); and (II) cooperate with platforms which provide individual A City Made By People products or services.

A City Made By People is an international network made up of of cities and citizens that celebrate and support citizens who make their cities more liveable. Made By People Lab is how we create awareness around urban issues and use different creative disciplines to explore and improve liveability in cities. The Websites may contain features including article, blog and newsletter services, event, print journals and community pages, member areas and other applications that may be available from time to time.
The public websites use third party cookies for analytics (Google Analytics, Mailchimp and Eventbrite) and to track common metrics such as platform engagement, concurrent users, maximum number of users, time spent on a page, etc. Any use of such analytics cookies is to improve your user experience and provide A City Made by People with valuable information to help A City Made By People to better tailor our services to our partners, members, constituents and participants.

What personal information do we store?
Once you sign up for our community, we automatically sign you up for our weekly update which is sent via Mailchimp. On Saturday’s you get the interesting and inspirational contributions to the online community in your mailbox. Of course you can unsubscribe for the update immediately. Only your first name, last name and email address are sent to Mailchimp.
We store this information for as long as you are a community member. We check email addresses once or twice a year and update our database. If you unsubscribe for newsletters, Mailchimp will delete your data. If you ask us to remove your data from the community website, the data sent to Mailchimp will be deleted too.

What personal information do we store?
A City Made By People organises its own events via the A City Made By People Account. Events (co-)organised by A City Made By People, are shared via the A City Made By People account. Registrations for these events are done via Eventbrite. Our events are either free or has a fee, therefore, the information collected is: your name, email address, and bank information to purchase a ticket. Your contact information is used solely for event purposes, this includes sending you an email about upcoming events.

A City Made By People does not knowingly solicit or collect personal data from children below the age of 18. If A City Made By People discovers that it has accidentally collected personal data from a child below the age of 18, it will remove that child’s personal data from its records as soon as reasonably possible. However, A City Made By People may collect personal data about children below the age of 18 years if authorised by the holder of parental responsibility over the child.

We do not share your personal data with any third party that intends to use it for direct marketing purposes, unless you have provided specific consent in relation to this.
A City Made By People may share your personal data with third parties for other purposes, but only in the following circumstances:

5.1 About cookies

5.2 What type of cookies do we use?
We use two types of cookies on A City Made By People Websites: persistent cookies and session cookies. A persistent cookie helps us recognize you as an existing user, so it's easier to return to A Cite Made By People Websites or interact with our services without signing in again. In the event you sign up to one of our platforms, a persistent cookie stays in your browser and will be read by the service when you return to one of our sites. Session cookies only last as long as the session (usually the current visit to a website or a browser session).
A City Made By People does not know the identity of a person based on the ID. The cookies used by A City Made By People do not contain any personal data about you nor are they used to look up your personal data. Even if you have entered personal data about yourself in one of A City Made By People’s registration forms, A City Made By People does not relate that information to the cookie data.

A City Made By People is an international network, present in 20+ cities, such as Amsterdam, Madrid, Vancouver, Chicago and more. The hosting facilities for our websites and A City Made By People Custom Platforms are situated in the Netherlands and the EU.
When transferring personal data internationally, we make sure that we comply with applicable laws and regulations, for example, by entering into agreements that will ensure that the recipients of your information maintain an adequate level of data protection.
Information collected within the European Economic Area (“EEA”) may, for example, be transferred to countries outside of the EEA for the purposes as described in this Policy. We utilize standard contract clauses approved by the European Commission, adopt other means under Swiss and European Union law and/or obtain your consent to legitimise data transfers from the EEA to the United States and other countries.

However, since the internet is not a 100% secure environment, A City Made By People cannot ensure nor guarantee the security of any information that the user may transmit to A City Made By People Websites. There is no guarantee that information may not be accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed by breach of any of A City Made By People’s physical, technical or managerial safeguards.
All A City Made By People team members who have access to and are associated with the processing of personal data are obliged to respect the confidentiality of all such personal data.
